As this war-torn country moves out from under the oppressive rule of the Taliban regime, women are finding hope and playing their part in rebuilding the country. The project which produces these ornaments teaches widows sewing and embroidery skills so that they move out of desperate situations and provide their children with food and schooling.
Silver threads encase the unique burqa blue fabric. Each set includes ornaments in the shapes of a dove, mitten, Christmas tree, Madonna and child, stocking, and angel. Ornaments measure roughly 3 inches.
